BAND OF LONG ISLAND WILL PLAY 2012-13 SUNDAY SERIES AT THE LANDMARK ON MAIN STREET
The Band of Long Island (BOLI), normally an ensemble engaged in helping other not-for-profit organizations raise money for their worthy causes, will make a departure from its usual activities and play its own concert series at the Landmark On Main Street (232 Main Street, Port Washington, NY) during the 2012-13 season.

Recounting a bit of the Band’s history, Conductor Michael Flamhaft said, “Over the course of 18 years, through its sponsored concerts, workshops and special activities, the ensemble has used its talents to raise more than $150,000 for other organizations.  The Sunday Series at the Landmark on Main Street, is not a detour from that important mission, but gives BOLI an opportunity to do the kind of programs we’ve done when it has been invited – both in 2006 and 2011 – to perform at the prestigious convention of the Association of Concert Bands.”

The first concert at the Landmark On Main Street takes place on Sunday, February 24th at 2 PM. With music by Bernstein, Prokofieff, and Wagner, a performance of Morton Gould's "Pavanne" to celebrate the 100th anniversary his birth, the introduction of a new, young Long Island "composing star," Michael T. DeFilippis, marches by Sousa and his march-writing "rival," R.B. Hall, as well as Broadway Show-Stoppers, the first concert in this two-concert series promises to be a great afternoon for the entire family.

General admission tickets for the concert are $15.00 / seniors and students $10.00. Tickets are available through the Band of Long Island website (www.bandoflongisland.org), or at the door. For further information call 516-829-8709.

The final concert in the series, on Sunday, June 23rd, will kick off the Band’s summer season.
